Sarah Hartmann presents successfully her doctoral thesis “Monuments of Everyday Life. Architecture. Interplays of City, Infrastructure, and Architecture in São Paulo”. The dissertation formulates a conceptual and updated definition of the idea of the monument for the megacity, based on an inductive re-reading of characteristic urban situations in São Paulo. This concept reflects multiple urban interplays, present in four selected case studies, as its essential characteristic. It points out to a relational understanding of urban monuments: Monuments of Everyday Life.
